Maggie Chenoweth, a veterinarian, experiences a state of panic when Arlo disappears. He later returns, speaking an eerie, unknown language and scratched, indicating that he has been possessed by a spirit. After his return, technology fails, animals act erratically, and a looming sense of danger grips the family.

Arlo discloses distressing information regarding a woman who was mutilated when he encountered her in the forest in Episode 2. Before she was killed by a wild dog, he saw her transfer a spirit to him.
