Vince McMahon has been under investigation over the past few years by various different government agencies. It was finally revealed today that the cases are closed and there will be no charges placed against McMahon.
Given the public nature of the recent investigations, the former WWE Chairman has been the victim of speculation and misinterpretation over the past few years. Finally, he was able to share his thoughts on the outcome of their case.
"The case is closed. Today ends nearly three years of investigation by different government agencies. There has been a great deal of speculation about what exactly the government was was investigating and what the outcome would be. As today's resolution shows, much of that was speculation and misleading. In the end, there was never anything more to this than minor accounting errors with regards to some personal payments that i made several years ago while Iawas CEO of WWE. I'm thrilled that I can now put all this behind me." he wrote.
McMahon has now reportedly reached a deal with the SEC where he will pay $400,000 in damages and reimburse WWE $1.3 million but both of these come without him admitting or denying their findings.
When all these investigations were made public, Vince McMahon was forced to step down as the Chairman of WWE officially back in January 2024, so that the company was not held back.
It's unclear what this means for McMahon moving forward or if he will be welcomed back to the company now that he has been able to clear his name publicly. However, with the Janel Grant lawsuit still pending, there are several other mitigating factors.
His statement makes it clear that he's happy to put it behind him and is now free to move forward without any investigations holding him back.
