Kurt Angle has been involved in some of the craziest segments in WWE history. The Olympic gold medalist once took Santa Claus to Suplex City. The match found its way to social media during the Christmas season.
During a recent edition of What Were They Thinking? on Backstage Pass, JBL commented on the infamous match between Kurt Angle and Santa Claus. The former WWE Champion put over The Wrestling Machine against Santa.
"Well, you got an Olympic gold medalist and you got a guy that can fly around the Earth and go down chimneys despite the fact that he's a big fat b**tard. So I think it's pretty equal here. I mean, I think, I think Santa Claus has a shot here, but Kurt Angle's at the top of his game. I'm and I'm pulling for actually Kurt here, right?" [02:41 onwards]
Elsewhere on the podcast, JBL spoke about Glenn Jacobs' former Christmas Creature gimmick. The Hall of Famer recalled how Jerry Lawler had Jacobs show up in a Christmas-themed outfit during USWA studio tapings in the '90s.
"So [Jerry] Lawler had Glenn Jacobs back in USWA and what else are you going to do around Christmas? Put the big monster in a Christmas Creature outfit, which, by the way, Glenn has told the story many times his mother helped make with the lights and stuff that actually turned off you." [32:23 onwards]
Gladly, The Christmas Creature gimmick didn't stop Jacobs from experimenting with different characters. The persona isn't likely to appear on WWE television, but nothing is certain in the world of pro wrestling.
