WWE veteran fires shots at Goldberg after his return: "This blows me away" (Exclusive)

Goldberg recently made an appearance at WWE Bad Blood 2024. This prompted a veteran to take shots at the Hall of Famer, addressing complaints that the latter had raised a long time back.

At a certain point in WCW, Goldberg was asked to turn heel by the booker at the time, Vince Russo. The run wasn't very succesful, largely because the fans did not quite seem to accept the concept of Goldberg as a villain.

In the last decade, the 57-year-old has also made appearances in WWE and participated in matches. However, his dominant streak did not quite translate to the Stamford-based promotion, where he lost a significant number of major matches to put over other stars like Roman Reigns.

Speaking on Sportskeeda Wrestling's The Wrestling Outlaws show, Vince Russo recalled how Goldberg had protested against his WCW heel turn. He explained that at least he had not misused Da Man's character like WWE had.

"That blows me away bro [Goldberg losing to Roman Reigns] because the dude had trouble with my booking? I didn't use him that way. I just wanted him to turn heel. I wasn't beating him, you know," said Russo. [9:10 onwards]

The WWE veteran believes Goldberg himself is responsible for his failed heel run in WCW

While Goldberg's poor run as a heel in WCW has been attributed mainly to its booking, Vince Russo thinks it's the star's own fault. According to the WWE veteran, Goldberg was never really committed to his character when he turned to the dark side. Speaking on Legion of RAW, Russo explained his perspective.

Speaking of current possibilities the veteran had a suggestion of how Goldberg could be used during the mammoth clash between Gunther and Cody Rhodes for the Crown Jewel Championship at the PLE in Saudi Arabia on November 2.

"I think it was very exciting. Do I want to see him come back to compete? After the last time I saw him compete, probably not, but if they can work something out where he gets involved somehow just to give a spear to Gunther somehow when Gunther is wrestling someone else. Think of this. It's going to be Gunther and Cody [Rhodes] at the Crown Jewel. Suppose Goldberg shows up and this is where that Crown Jewel thing and he spears Gunther to cause him to lose to Cody," he said. [3:20 - 4:02]

As of now, it remains to be seen whether Goldberg will be participating in the WWE ring soon.
