Fans have singled out midfielder Eduardo Camavinga for praise after his display for Real Madrid in their UEFA Champions League defeat at Liverpool. The Reds maintained their 100% record in the competition this season with a 2-0 win over the reigning champions in Merseyside.

Anfield was the venue where Carlo Ancelotti's injury-ravaged team looked to get their automatic qualification hopes back in this season's Champions League. The Italian manager named a similar XI to the one that defeated Leganes during the weekend. He brought in the likes of Ferland Mendy, Brahim Diaz, and Luka Modric from the start, but it was Camavinga who caught the eye with his performance.

Having also started against Leganes on Sunday, the Frenchman was named in central midfield for Los Blancos. The former Stade Rennais man saw his side suffer defeat, but fans took their time to praise his display.

A fan pointed out that the midfielder chose to play as though he wanted to win.

"Camavinga seemed like the one of the few who acc wanted a result," they wrote.
"Camavinga is the future of this sport 😭, " they posted.
"This Camavinga half against Liverpool shows how pivotal he is to this Real Madrid side. Has the ability to execute actions at top speed—passing, tackling, anticipation. His upper body & hip movements enable flexible motions. BALLER!!" they posted.

A fan singled out Camavinga and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois for their efforts.

"Tonight it was Liverpool vs Camavinga and Courtois," they wrote.
"Camavinga had quite a game. He was good, always good," they posted.
"It’s a shame Camavinga’s performance in the first half especially amounted to nothing," they wrote.

Eduardo Camavinga was limited to just 57 minutes at Anfield before appearing to hurt his hamstring and getting replaced by Dani Ceballos. Having already spent a spell on the sidelines this season, the young midfielder will hope to return to action as soon as possible.

Real Madrid conceded twice in the second 45 minutes as the Premier League leaders claimed a win in front of their fans. They remain top of the standings while Los Blancos are marooned in 24th.

Liverpool break 15-year-old jinx with win over Real Madrid

Liverpool broke a 15-year-old jinx by claiming a 2-0 win over Real Madrid in their UEFA Champions League meeting. Arne Slot's side picked up a first win over the Spanish giants since 2009 in the competition.

Following a scoreless first half, the Reds needed just seven second-half minutes before Alexis Mac Allister scored their opener from inside the box. The visitors were awarded a penalty shortly after, but Kylian Mbappe saw Caoimhin Kelleher save his effort. Mohamed Salah missed one penalty as well, as he sent his effort well wide of the mark.

Liverpool sealed the result in the second half with a fine header from Cody Gakpo following a corner kick routine.
